President Donald Trump Dismisses Iran’s Response as “Unacceptable”

(Market Media, May 11, 2026) President Donald Trump announced yesterday that he has rejected Iran’s proposed peace agreement, calling it “completely unacceptable.”

The decision has weakened ongoing efforts to end the conflict between the two countries and has once again heightened tensions across the region.

In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump said, “I have now read the response sent by the so-called representatives of Iran. I did not like it.”

Although the Iranian government stated that it had delivered a revised framework agreement to Washington through Pakistani diplomats, Trump did not provide details about which parts of the document he opposed.

In recent days, both sides had been engaged in discussions to extend a 30-day ceasefire agreement and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which had been closed by Iran.

However, President Trump emphasized that his primary objective remains preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Speaking about Iran’s uranium stockpile, Trump said the United States is closely monitoring the situation. “If anyone gets near that site, we will know, and we will strike and destroy them,” he warned.

He also referred to Iran’s nuclear materials as “dust,” signaling that Iran would be expected to fully surrender those materials before any agreement could be reached.

Since February 28, following coordinated attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, Tehran has carried out retaliatory actions targeting Israel and several Arab nations allied with Washington.

Although a ceasefire was declared last month, Trump acknowledged that the conflict has not fully come to an end.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated that the conflict with Iran is “far from over,” adding that Israel would continue its military operations as long as Iran remains a nuclear threat.

Trump’s rejection of the peace proposal came as he prepared for a meeting this week in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping. China, one of Iran’s closest trading partners, is believed to have a strong interest in bringing the conflict to an end.

Beyond triggering major instability in global oil markets, the war has also shifted American military focus from Asia to the Middle East, a development Beijing is reportedly monitoring closely.

At present, drone attacks are continuing in the United Arab Emirates, while U.S. naval forces have reportedly carried out operations along Iran’s coastline. Political analysts say the region has entered a dangerous phase marked by neither full-scale war nor genuine peace.
