May 16, 2026 (Gebeya Media) — A senior Iranian lawmaker has announced that Iran’s parliament is preparing a draft law that would require the government to pay a €50 million reward to any individual or organization responsible for killing U.S. President Donald Trump.
The move is reportedly intended as retaliation for attacks carried out by the United States and Israel that resulted in the deaths of Iranian leaders and senior military commanders.
Reports also indicate that the measure is aimed at increasing political pressure on the Trump administration amid concerns that military conflict could reignite following the collapse of a previous ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States.
According to Ibrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, lawmakers have been drafting several bills since fighting escalated earlier this year. Some of the proposed measures focus on retaliatory actions by Iran’s military and security forces.
Azizi also stated that Israel’s Prime Minister and the commander of CENTCOM should be considered targets for similar retaliatory action, saying, “This is our right.”
The proposed legislation reportedly states that the Iranian government would be legally obligated to pay €50 million to any individual or legal entity that successfully carries out the mission.
Beyond the official draft bill, reports claim that the Iranian government has been working with private organizations since earlier this year to raise funds for an assassination campaign against Trump. Authorities are also said to have sent SMS messages to citizens encouraging participation in the fundraising effort.
According to available information, nearly 290,000 people have reportedly taken part in the campaign so far, with around $25 million allegedly raised.
Iran has repeatedly issued threats against Trump since 2020, after he ordered the killing of Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad. Those threats have reportedly intensified amid the current crisis.
Last February, hidden-camera footage released in a Brooklyn court allegedly showed an operative linked to Iran discussing plans to assassinate Trump. In November 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice also announced that it had uncovered and foiled an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Trump before the presidential election.
