ENOC Finalizes Preparations to Supply Fuel to Ethiopian Market

Both parties have committed to optimizing fuel supply chains for Ethiopia while fast-tracking critical energy infrastructure development currently underway in Djibouti.

The Emirati energy giant Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), has announced it is in the final stages of preparations to significantly scale up its supply of petroleum products to the Ethiopian market.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a high-level meeting in Djibouti between the newly appointed Djiboutian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Dr. Djama Mohamed Hassan, and the CEO of ENOC and Chairman of the Board of HDTL, Hussain Sultan Lootah.

The visit served as a formal introduction to the new Minister and a platform to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two entities.

The delegation, which included HTL CEO Fahad Abdulrahman Askar and HDTL General Manager Omar Kassou, alongside representatives from the Djiboutian Ministry of Energy and the International Hydrocarbon Society of Djibouti (SIHD), reviewed the current performance of the Doraleh Oil Terminal.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the facility's role in supporting Ethiopia’s energy needs, reaching a consensus to further streamline supply chains and fast-track ongoing energy infrastructure projects.

Key strategic developments identified for priority implementation include the integration of the rail network with oil depots, the construction of additional storage reservoirs, the development of Liquefied Petroleum Gas storage facilities, and the expansion of the existing jetty to accommodate increased traffic.

During the discussions Mr. Lootah emphasized the mutual economic benefits of these initiatives for both the UAE-based firm and the nations of Djibouti and Ethiopia.

He underscored his company’s firm commitment to executing these projects and requested continued high-level support from the Djiboutian government to ensure timely completion.

In response, Dr. Djama Mohamed Hassan welcomed the proposals, requesting the submission of formal project feasibility studies. The Minister reaffirmed the Djiboutian government’s full support for these ventures, which are expected to bolster regional energy stability.

ENOC, a state-owned enterprise under the Government of Dubai, maintains a vast global footprint in the energy sector, spanning exploration, refining, storage, retail, and logistics.

The company continues to serve as a critical energy partner for various industries and commercial institutions worldwide.
